MHC JUNE IN MAINE MINI REUNION ACTIVITY
SCHEDULE |
Enjoy a sure-to-be-beautiful
early-June long weekend at Melissa Thornton’s Bold Colorful Life
Estate, in Boothbay Maine
Located in Boothbay, in mid-coast Maine, the 15 acre
waterfront estate offers stunning views of the Back
River, where you can swim or kayak…or watch the local
eagles and osprey dip for their dinner in the cove at
the bottom of the lawns…. or wander through the
gardens….listen to the chorus of spring peepers and
bullfrogs on the freshwater pond….enjoy a hammock….come
away from it all….catch your breath….read about it
all
here.
And within 10 miles are
opportunities to hike, paddle kayaks, shop, visit
galleries, hunt for puffins or whales, wander the
world-famous Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, explore
lighthouses…museums…historic houses…the list is endless.
|
Current Plans for
Activities:
I. FRIDAY, June 2nd: Check-in is any time after 2p.
Cocktails will be served in the greenhouse and on the
deck at 5p ($5 non-alcohol/$10 alcohol contribution) and
then dinner is on our own. Melissa's suggestion is that
we all gather at the nearby
Watershed Tavern
for oven-fired pizza and locally crafted beer....salads
and burgers are available there too! 301 Adams
Pond Rd, Boothbay, ME. 04537
Please note: At the end of each night, in true Mt
Holyoke tradition, ‘milk and crackers/cookies’ will be
available in both buildings at 9-10pm at the Bold Colorful Life.
(These days, they'll include g.f., organic, etc.
options) ALL ARE WELCOME, NO MATTER WHERE YOU'RE
STAYING!
II.
SATURDAY, June 3rd: Saturday
morning***
After breakfast at
your lodging, please head over to the Bold Colorful Life
estate, at 802 Back River Road, at 10:30am to share a
ride to
take a wonderful wander around the Coastal
Maine Botanical Gardens
at 11am as a large group. If you're interested, buy
your tickets here, once they open May 1st.
It takes about 90
minutes to enjoy it all. Tickets can be
purchased at
their website here, closer to the date, for $20for
a senior, and MUST be purchased before the date.
Feel free to come
early or return later to walk the Labyrinth, wander
the Forest Bathing sites or take a short walk on the
Enchanted Trails to the Fairy Walk, all located on this
15 acre waterfront property.
**For those
staying at the Bold Colorful Life estate,
a continental breakfast
will be available in
each building on a serve-yourself basis. Seating
can be self-determined, depending on your
attitude towards the COVID endemic. ***The
refrigerators in each house will have room for
you to store your special dietary items. Just be
sure to label them. |
Lunch can be enjoyed
at the Gardens or in nearby Boothbay Harbor.

1.
10am, all those who are seaworthy and adventurous will
take an
Audubon Puffin and Scenic Cruise
from Boothbay Harbor 10:00 am to 12:30p. The boat takes
off from/returns to Boothbay Harbor. The cost is $49.00
and sign-up should be ASAP to ensure we get tickets.

nearby hikes in the afternoon, we’ll return to the Bold
Colorful Life greenhouse for cocktails.
VI. SUNDAY, June 4th: Sunday night-dinner

message, so we can make a reservation or reservations.
VII. MONDAY,
June 5th: Continental Breakfast
will be available
here before you pack up and ready yourselves for your
trip home…where you will commence an even more ‘bold and
colorful life’. :-) Activities (for those resident on
the site and nearby) include enjoying the site one more
time...or adding a nearby activity that you weren't able
to fit in earlier...or planning an activity on your
route home.
Checkout
will be any time until 4pm Monday, or as agreed. Just
let me know your preferences.
Additional Options (also
weather permitting):
1) Entertainment: there's a rumor that the V8s (the 4 of
them who are joining us) will sing for
us on Saturday evening.
2) Yoga: We'll likely gather to practice yoga one or two
mornings on the deck or on the lawn.
(I just bought 3 extra yoga mats and 3 extra yoga blocks
if anyone doesn't have room in their luggage, but wants
to
join a yoga event)
3) Singing Bowls: We can set up a Women's Group with
singing bowls and/or drums. I have
both.
4) Group Photo: I plan to send up my drone and take
group picture(s) of us somewhere
along the way...and will share the photos with you and
with our Facebook page and Class of
74 website.
5)
All
classmates are invited to wander the 15 acre waterfront
estate, stopping to experience the 50 marked
Forest Bathing
sites
or re-charging by walking the Labyrinth and meditating
on the river view.
6)
Or take a stroll on the newly expanded Enchanted
Circle and perhaps build a fairy house on the
Fairy Walk.
7)
We have
6 adult kayaks
for guest use, lots of hiking poles, games, etc.
