The Setting: the Bold Colorful Life Estate in
late September |
Maine in September gives a dramatic backdrop
to any event. In late September, this year, the trees were aflame
with reds and oranges and the sky was aflame with golds and purples.

|
|
The wedding was to be held on the lawn, with a
view of the river, but the torrential downpour the day before
created slippery conditions on the slope to the river....so the
wedding was held in the charmingly decorated barn....without a drop
of water, thank Mother Nature! |
|
|
Friends of the Bride and Groom worked
tirelessly to deck out the barn and 'Gem Room' for the occasion. |
The front of the barn held the benches, while
the 'gem room' was filled with pictures of the bride and groom at
all ages, and there was a photo booth, for wedding guests to take
their own picture for a scrapbook the bride and groom were going to
create. |
|
|
|
|
The Groom's antique truck was the center point
of the courtyard. |
|
The cocktail hour was still dry, so cocktails
and appetizers were offered on the big new reception deck. |

Hello Color! If you need a little pick me up this morning, you’ve
come to the right place. I mean, why have a single pop of color when
you can have a rainbow of wonderful? And how perfect is the venue
name – the Bold
Colorful Life Inn? It all plays out absolutely beautifully in
the images from Leah
Fisher Photography below. Add some stunning florals from Beautiful
Days and my new favorite gown on the internets right now, and
this gallery is one happy place to be today. See
it all here.
From the Bride…After knowing each other for over 8 years, we
wanted to create a simple, beautiful and meaningful celebration,
only shared with a small number of our close friends and family. One
thing we really wanted was to find a venue that we could house our
wedding party and family for not just the day of, but for the entire
weekend. We were so pleased when we found The Bold Colorful Life Inn
located in Boothbay, Maine. The Inn not only featured a large
farmhouse and small guest cottage, but also a small rustic barn, all
right on the ocean which also tied in beautifully with our
aesthetic.
Color was the largest inspiration for the day. From the decor
and attire to the bridesmaid’s dresses and the display of 100′s of
repurposed glass pieces on the family style dining tables. We hired
local vendors across the board- even beer brewed the morning before
right in the next town over.
We skipped having a DJ or reception band and instead had each
guest, along with their RSVP, send in a dance request song. The
night was filled with hand-picked songs from all of our friends and
family.
The glassware is still displayed in our home, as well as many of
our guests’ homes as we asked them to take their favorite piece.
Truly a magical weekend that we relive all the time.

A wonderfully connective time.... |
|
|
|
Dinner and toasting was done in the Camelot
tent, set up in the 'little chapel' beside the barn. The bride's
mother gathered 200 'bold and colorful' glass containers which held
candles and bounced light all around the tables as the guests ate a
sumptuous dinner catered by Josh Potocki and the 158 Pickett Street
Cafe in South Portland. All the ingredients were local and
delicious. |
|
|
|
Later that night, the firepit was put to good
use with a big bonfire for those who were staying on-site.
|
|
Altogether, it was a magical gathering of
delightful human beings....and an event that all will remember for a
LONG time to come! |
