Bold Colorful Life Estate
Destination Wedding Check List
Here's a list
to help you be sure you've thought of every service you'll need
to make your special day
a totally delightful and memorable one.
A. Officiant: the person who conducts the
wedding. In Maine, that's the Notary Public. The Bold Colorful
Life Owner, Melissa Thornton, is a wedding Officiant and there
are dozens of others in the area.
B. Photographers: you will want to choose one or more
photographers whose style matches yours and that of your
wedding. Here are some
local ideas.
C. Musicians: the same holds true of your
musicians
D. Flowers: add wonderful color to
your festivities. There are several florists in the Boothbay
region. See our preferred provider list
here
E. Caterers, Groceries, Fresh Food Sources: The food is the hub of
the wedding reception- choose from
these providers, or find your own. The peninsula has
caterers who offer provisions from simple to elegant and organic
to cuisine. Please keep in
mind that the caterers must clean up off-site and take all
food-related garbage with them.
F. Tents and Rentals: The Great
Room is wonderful for small (25-50 guest) inside weddings; the
barn for slightly larger (up to 75) inside weddings; and the
reception deck holds up to 125 guests. But Mother Nature rules
the weather and it's always a good idea to have a backup plan in
case of rain. Tents and tables and chairs and linens are all
available from
local providers. Please be sure they will pick them up
before the end of your contract on the estate.
G. Porta-Johns: Portable toilets also range from rustic to
elegant. Here are
some thoughts. You will need one toilet per 20 people above
and beyond those who are residing in the two buildings on the
site. Please be sure these, also, are removed from the site
before the end of your contract.
H. Hair Salons: some wedding hair/nail/make-up stylists come to
the site, some prefer you to go to their salon. Here are
some ideas.
I. Massage Therapists: a wonderful idea for the whole wedding
party....add some relaxation to the event preparation.
J. Trolleys, Cab,
Buses, Transportation. If you are having more guests than the 20
guests who reside on the property during your wedding events,
you will need to arrange
transportation to and from the event(s), as there is no
parking along the Back River Road. Depending on if/where your
tent is placed, there are up to 15 parking spots on the site and
another 10-12 across the street on the parking flat. Wedding
planners have successfully arranged for pickup from local
inns/m/hotels or from certain 'hubs' like the playground at the
end of Back River Rd. Please check with the Town Hall, for their
blessing on your parking hub choice.
K. Lodging for additional Guests: There are several inns, B&Bs
and motels nearby Boothbay. Here's the
Boothbay Chamber website, and the
Boothbay Harbor Chamber website. The two closest,
geographically, are
Boothbay Resort and
Hodgdon Island Inn.

'realsimple.com' with their 'ultimate' wedding check
list....it's the best list, with timing suggestions, we've ever
seen.
