The new
Fairy Walk at the
Bold Colorful Life Estate
|
Please come and
experience our Fairy Walk where children of all
ages can walk along the Enchanted Trail....a magical, woodland path...and build their own
fairy home, in the Fairy Glade.
Here's the big new attraction for 2018 on the 15 acre estate. It's a "Fairy Walk" where children (of all ages) can build fairy houses
to their heart's content, and the walkway leads through the woods to
a lovely pine-needle-covered picnic area.
|
These are the wonderful, mystical
Maine ledge cliffs and boulders...they remind me of an area where one might find
the Wizard Merlin's cave. Imagine the mighty Excalibur sword
thrusting out of one of the great boulders in the area.

This is the entrance to
theEnchanted Trail, off the east side of Back River Road, right across from
our fresh water pond.
As with all forest paths, please wear good walking shoes, watch for roots
and rocks and bring insect repellant! |

There are many seats
and lots of containers of materials to build the fairy homes: garden
straws, pine cones of all shapes, acorns, birch bark, etc. |

And here are the fairy

follow the flowered windsocks. |

And here's the Picnic
Glade itself. Enjoy the smell of pine needles, the breeze through
the trees and the all-encompassing peace. |

Here is the story of
the beginning of the
Fairy Walk path. When we had a few warmer winter days in February, I
laid out the general path and then my handyman, Tim, and I began to
clean out the fallen debris and the dead trees in the area.

We used the longest straight
trees for the path boundaries, and the more slender ones for teepees
in the Fairy Town itself.
|
|
It was many days of hard
work...and then we had to address the 'widowmaker'...a 50' leaning
tree that Mother Nature had toppled in a recent storm. If we left
it, it could threaten the guests who enjoyed the Fairy Walk...so, it
had to go...
and we finally succeeded with Tim on the chainsaw and me pulling the
other end with my 1995 Ford Explorer!! |

|
Here is the path as it leads up
to the picnic area...a lovely woodland site, covered with pine
needles and simply peaceful.
|
|
|
|
Down the woodland hill, its
neighbor is a lovely, quiet old cemetery where the former owners of
the property are now located. |
